Bern. Cultural significance.
Bern has kept intact its shape over the centuries appearance. The city’s architecture reflects the rich history of not only the Alpine republic, but also the whole of Western Europe. The capital of Switzerland has been included in the catalog by UNESCO as one of the treasures of world culture.
In the old part of town you can see the medieval fortifications, including the Clock Tower, built in the XVth century. Once there was a gate in Bern. Chimes in the tower by the medieval master Caspar Brunier, say every hour rooster singing and impressive demonstration fairy-tale figures.
